What services does the SKS Directorate provide?

The Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports provides services aimed at supporting our students’ university life not only in terms of academic development but also in terms of social, cultural, athletic, and personal development. In this context, the Directorate organizes various activities, including student club activities, cultural and athletic events, sports teams, psychological counseling services, social responsibility projects, and other initiatives that encourage students’ active participation in social life.

What are the SKS working hours?

The Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports is located on the 2nd floor of Block A at the Kartal Campus.

Office Hours:

  • Weekdays: 08:00 – 17:30
  • Closed on weekends and public holidays.

Does the university have a student dormitory?

Our university does not have its own student dormitories. However, you can obtain information and guidance regarding partner student dormitories through the Directorate of Health, Culture, and Sports.

How can I benefit from sports services?

Our students may use the university’s sports facilities during the designated hours. For up-to-date information regarding the use of the gym and other sports facilities, please contact the Office of Health, Culture, and Sports. For facilities that require an appointment, advance reservations must be made.

How to establish a student club?

To establish a new student club; at least 15 founding students, one academic advisor, and the complete preparation of the required application documents are required.

The application file must include the following documents:

  • Student Club Application Form
  • Student Club Advisor Acceptance Form
  • Student Club Executive Board Notification Form
  • Student Club Constitution
  • Current student certificates of the students who will serve on the Executive Board

The completed application file must be submitted to the Directorate of Health, Culture and Sports. Applications are evaluated within the scope of the relevant directive. Clubs deemed appropriate may begin their activities following the approval of the Senate.

Can I join multiple student clubs?

Yes. You can join multiple student clubs at the same time based on your interests.

Is there a fee to join student clubs?

No. Student club membership is completely free.

Do clubs accept new members throughout the year?

Yes. Clubs may accept new members throughout the academic year based on their needs. You can also apply for membership at the information booths organized during the orientation periods.

How can I terminate my club membership?

When you want to terminate your membership, you need to communicate with the executive board of the relevant club.

How can I follow club activities?

You can follow club activities through the SKS website, the university's official social media accounts, and the clubs' announcement channels.

Is participation in events free of charge?

Events organized by the university are free of charge. If there are paid events with participation requirements, the necessary information will be shared separately in the event announcements.

Is a participation certificate issued for events?

Participation certificates or diplomas can be issued depending on the nature of the event. Whether a certificate will be provided will be indicated in the event announcement.

Can I participate in events organized by student clubs I'm not a member of?

Yes. Our university students can participate in events organized by student clubs they are not members of, as long as no different participation requirements are specified for the event. To participate in events, you only need to be an active student of our university.

Can non-university individuals participate in events?

The content of the event may vary. Events open to non-university individuals will be indicated separately in the announcements.

Can I hold a position in a student club?

Yes. You can hold a position in the executive board of a student club according to their election and operation principles.

Who is the club advisor and what are their responsibilities?

Each student club has an academic advisor. The club advisor oversees the club's activities in accordance with the relevant guidelines and supports the process by approving event applications.

Can we get poster or promotional support for our club?

Yes. Posters, digital announcements, and promotional processes for approved events are carried out in coordination with the relevant units under the SKS Directorship.

How can we make reservations for club events?

Salon and venue reservations are made through the GEBİS system during the event application process.

How can we get permission from SKS for organizing events?

Applications for events organized by student clubs are submitted through the GEBİS system.

The application process is as follows:

  1. The event is created in the GEBİS system by the relevant academic staff member.
  2. The club advisor completes the Club Advisor Approval process through the system.
  3. Following the advisor's approval, the application is forwarded to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports.
  4. The event may be held after all required administrative approvals have been completed.

To ensure that event planning is completed on time:

  • Events requiring a procurement request must be submitted for approval through GEBİS at least 15 days in advance.
  • Events not requiring a procurement request must be submitted for approval through GEBİS at least 10 days in advance.

Who can participate in sports teams?

Students who are under 28 years old and actively enrolled at our university can participate in sports teams by applying to the selection announcements.

Are psychological counseling services paid?

No. Psychological counseling sessions provided by our university are free for our students.

How can I avail of the clinical psychology services?

Students who wish to avail of psychological counseling services can;

  • Submit an application via the email address gulfem.makaraci@gedik.edu.tr,
  • Or submit a direct application to the Department of Health, Culture and Sports

They can then schedule appointments.
